You're invited to Emory University Tzu Ching General Body Meeting!
Tuesday 9/9, 7pm, White Hall 102, food = yes
Tzu Chi Buddhist Foundation is dedicated to compassionate relief around the world, with its mission of "Great Love" - Charity, Medicine, Education, and Humanity - transcending the bounds of nationality, language, and religion. Starting with just pennies by Buddhist nun Dharma Master Cheng Yen in Taiwan in 1966, Tzu Chi has grown to include branches in 47 countries with over 10 million volunteers. Tzu Chi is now the largest Buddhist charity in the world, as well as the largest nongovernmental organization in the Chinese-speaking world.
In the United States, Tzu Chi focuses on disaster relief big and small (such as US$10 million in cash donations to Hurricane Sandy victims and close to US$5 million to Hurrican Katrina victims), operating schools and free medical clinics, food drives, nursing home visits, and other community service activities.
The Young Adult division is called "Tzu Ching" and Emory University Tzu Ching (FB: @ Tzu Ching Emory) invites you to its General Body Meeting this Tuesday September 9th at 7pm in White Hall 102, free vegetarian dinner provided.
