Don't forget our guided meditation tonight 11/12 at 6pm - this week with Geshe Dadul - and self-led meditation on Monday at 8am, both in Cannon Chapel basement!

For those who have deeper interest and no plans yet for the upcoming breaks: Ever wanted to taste life in a Buddhist monastery? Need to focus your mind and develop wisdom through intensive meditation, under the guidance of experienced monastics? For those interested, here are a few upcoming retreats over the winter holidays in some of the largest non-profit Buddhist temples in the United States, that are open to lay people.

Note: Some places are open to all including beginners and families; however, many retreats are not suitable for casual participants and require strict discipline and previous meditation experience or other eligibility requirements. Please check with each center to determine your suitability. For example, the daily schedule at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas begins at 3:30am and the last activity concludes at 9:45pm every day of the year except during Chan Meditation retreats which begin daily before 3am and end at 11pm.

The City of Ten Thousand Buddhas and Dharma Realm Buddhist University (main campus in Ukiah, California):
Chan Meditation for Beginners: Nov 25 - 28
Amitabha Recitation Retreat Winter 2015: Dec 27 - Jan 2
Intense Chan Meditation: Jan 3 - 24, 2016 (Advanced practitioners only)
Spring Guan Yin Retreat: Mar 26 - Apr 3, 2016 (Beginners track available)
Summer Guan Yin Retreat: Jul 16 - Jul 24, 2016 (Beginners track available)
Or as a volunteer: All with good intentions are welcome to apply for a rare opportunity to live, study, and work among perhaps the largest Mahayana Buddhist monastery in the US!
