If you are looking for ways to help those affected, consider a monetary donation to Tzu Chi USA, the American chapter of Buddhist Tzu Chi Global Relief Foundation. Founded in 1966, Tzu Chi means "Compassionate Relief" and is a non-profit humanitarian organization dedicated to Charity, Medicine, Education, and Humanistic Culture, as a movement of socially engaged Buddhism and compassion in action. Disaster relief is one of the main missions of Tzu Chi's "Great Love", with recipients served regardless of background or religious belief. Tzu Chi's mission is to bring comfort and care directly on the ground to those in need. Tzu Chi volunteers in the US have responded to disasters large and small - in 2016 these included tornadoes in Texas; floods in Missouri, Illinois, Texas, West Virginia, and Louisiana; Hurricane Matthew in North Carolina; wildfires in California; a massive earthquake in Ecuador; historic flooding in France; Hurricane Matthew in Haiti; and severe flooding in Honduras. Tzu Chi's Hurricane Katrina disaster relief included over US$8 million and Tzu Chi's Hurricane Sandy disaster relief included over US$10 million in direct cash donations to disaster victims, as well as thousands of hot meals served and emergency supplies provided, for which Tzu Chi was recognized as a Champion of Change by the Obama White House in 2013. We need your help -- please consider donating. As a reputable charity, donations received are treasured (no extravagant salaries or administration here - you can find annual reports on the website) and you can choose to designate 100% of your donation to go to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Thank you for your support! You can donate online at www.TzuChi.us or text HarveyRecovery to 91999 or bring cash/check/Venmo to our meeting ________________________________ This e-mail message (including any attachments) is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain confidential and privileged information.
